Step #2: As you already know, good oral hygiene is the foundation for a healthy smile. To prevent tooth decay (and gum disease), brush and floss your teeth daily. This is essential whether you are aligning your teeth or not. Just be sure to clean your teeth before popping your aligners back in.
Step #3: You can clean your aligners safely using antibacterial soap. Toothpaste is discouraged for aligner care because it can contain abrasive ingredients which will scratch them and make them more noticeable on your smile. Just rinse your aligners well to remove soapy residue before you put them back in your mouth.
Step #4: While mouthwash is an effective deterrent to germs and bacteria, oral rinses with green or blue coloring can tint your aligners, making them visible when you wear them. Soaking them in denture cleaner or retainer cleaner will sanitize them without discoloring them in the process.
