Dentistry Essentials 101: Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy

How excited are you for a root canal? The answer is probably not much because the idea of receiving work on your teeth can often be daunting. However, if you do have a damaged pulp, it is essential to visit your dentist in Houston as soon as possible to have it treated immediately with root canal therapy. If left untreated, an infected pulp can destroy a tooth, which will affect the rest of your smile as well. For examples of what may cause an infected pulp, consider this:– If you suffer from deep cavities, a root canal therapy may be needed. Deep cavities occur when holes form in your tooth enamel to the point that bacteria can enter the root of the tooth and the damaged pulp.– If you have had repeated dental procedures to a tooth, it can leave a tooth vulnerable to weakened tooth enamel wear and tear and the potential for pulp infection.– Oral accidents and injuries often lead to severe dental damage including pulp damage. If the pulp is damaged, a root canal will be needed.

– There may be microscopic damage to teeth that you cannot see with your own eyes. Even if a small crack is present in a tooth, bacteria can seep through the hole and into the root of a tooth. Thus, root canal therapy will be needed.
